Olympia Campbell is currently a research fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Toulouse (IAST), Toulouse School of Economics (TSE). Prior, she received her PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology from University College London.

Más información

Her research has predominantly focused on cross-cultural variation in the status of women, examining the effects of kinship intensity and cousin marriage on the risk of violence for women.

The goal of her current research is to explain what drives kinship intensity cross-culturally. In other words, why are some societies structured by particularly dense overlapping networks of kin, while others are not? Relatedly, what causes us to break down these kinship bonds in favour of relationships with unrelated individuals?

She has conducted fieldwork in Kyrgyzstan on bride kidnapping and has also written several pop science piece on marriage practices for UnHerd and Works in Progress.

At bio+, Olympia teaches the course on field methods in human behavioural ecology.
